F.A.Q.
The following section is information to help answer some common questions we often hear!
Registration Questions
- Where are the Registration Forms? The info postcard had no place to register...
- The Registration Form inside the packet that was mailed to you is to be photo-copied as many times as you need it, noting that there are two forms on the front and the back (if you have 20 students, make 10 copies and cut them in half). Leaders and sponsors are to fill in these forms as well.
- What do I do with the Group Registration Form?
- The packet also included one Group Registration Form. Please fill in this form, grouping students into rooms yourself, and send along with the individual registration forms.
- Where do we send our Registration Forms to?
- Kayla Penner is our Registrar. You can send your forms to Kayla Penner, c/o Kleefeld EMC Box 129 Kleefeld, MB, R0A 0V0 Email: kaylarose018 at gmail.com Phone: (204)377-4773 Fax: (204)377-4558
- Do my students pay EMC or just pay me?
- The students are required to fill out their registration forms and hand it in to you directly along with the $25 non-refundable deposit and the $85 bus registration fee (if applicable). You will send one Cheque to us at the time of your Group Registration, for the total amount of the deposits and the bus. At Abundant Springs in May you will bring along one more Cheque to cover the remaining amount of the registration fees! We will not accept multiple Cheques from students in your group, but only one Cheque from you as the leader! Cheques are written out to Evangelical Mennonite Conference, with a note on the memo line indicating the designation as “Abundant Springs.”
- Is this event just for my teens?
- While this event is aimed at your students who are 14 & 15 years old or grade 9 & 10 through High School, you are welcome to invite your young adults to attend (they can pay their own way – the same fee as the students).
- Are you serious about these late fees?
- Late fees will be enforced so make timely registration a priority.
- Does the $25 deposit come off of the registration fee?
- The $25 non-refundable deposit is part of the registration fee. If you get the early-bird registration fee, your remaining total per student is $160 to be paid at Abundant Springs!
- What do I do when a pre-registered person in my group suddenly can’t attend?
- Our cancellation policy says that the $25 deposit is non-refundable. However, if a student finds someone of the same gender to take his or her place, there will be no charge. There will be an additional $10 fee if the replacement is of the opposite gender.
- Why do my students and their parents need to sign the release statement?
- For Liability Insurance reasons, we must have the “Release Statement” signed!
- What do I do with all the medication my students bring along?
- ALL MEDICATION brought by your students must be handed in to you, the leaders, when you arrive (prescription or non-prescription such as Tylenol, NyQuil, Advil, etc.). The girls may give theirs to your female youth leader, and the boys to your male youth leader. You will then hand the items in (preferably in a Marked Zip-lock bag) to our First Aid worker. If you have some questions regarding specialty items such as Epi pens or inhalers, consideration will be given (all items will be returned at the end of the weekend).
- Is there anything we as a group can do to prepare ahead of time?
- We would like you to raise extra money during your fund-raising to go towards our Mission Project offering and also our bursary to help groups who struggle to raise money.
- Can my group make use of the buses reserved with Beaver Bus Lines?
- If you are in Region 6, 7 or 8 and require a bus, please indicate this on your Group Registration Form or contact Gerald Reimer before April 1, 2011...the cost is $85 per person.
Program Questions
- Where do the students sign up for the recreation activities?
- All sign-up will take place at Abundant Springs on Friday evening!
- How many leaders can play on the sports teams?
- For the team sports (volleyball, basketball, street hockey, soccer) events on Saturday, only one adult age 19 or older can be on the court at a time.
- Is the Sunday group game indoors or out?
- The Sunday afternoon wide game game is outdoors so make sure everyone brings along some “grubby” clothes to wear.
- Is there a Missions project this year?
- We have not confirmed the project yet but will let you know as soon as things are in place.
Facility Questions
- Does everyone get a bed to sleep in?
- The dorms have two beds per room, but we are placing a minimum of three people in each room. This means that one-third of your students need to bring along some sort of mattress to sleep on. Everyone needs to bring along sleeping bags and pillows.
- What do I tell my students who smoke?
- While we request that students do not bring cigarettes to Abundant Springs, we realize that some can’t go without (as the youth leader we ask you to make the decision). There will be a designated smoking pad and leaders must accompany students when they need to smoke.
